Programs and Services
EMSC currently offers the following programs:
- Basic Emergency Lifesaving Skills (BELS)

- The framework for teaching emergency lifesaving skills to children and adolescents. This program gives children specific details with simple explanation to help in providing a viable patient for EMS.
- Children With Special Health Care Needs (CWSHCN)
- Designed to educate providers on the essential information needed when presented with a child with special needs.
- Emergency Firstcare and Injury Prevention
- Developed by emergency professionals, child care professionals and educators, this program was developed to meet the needs of child care providers in Georgia. Provides resources, education, and suggested implementation on making your daycare safe.
- Office Preparedness
- Designed to coach the readiness of office staff when presented with a pediatric emergency. The scenario is designed for the physician and staff, and helps prepare for pediatric emergencies in the clinic or office.
- Pre-hospital Pediatric Life Support
- Developed by Dr. Joseph Simon, this course is designed to help prepare pre-hospital personnel in the care of ill or injured children.
- Pediatric Skills and Scenario Based Assessment for the First Responder
- An educational tool utilized by EMS personnel. This program provides for the further development of practical skills when providing care for pediatric patients.
- Starkids (Special and/or Technology Assisted Resources)
- Information specifically for the parents and caregivers of children with special healthcare needs. This packet includes resources available in all areas of Georgia, including how to arrange for preplanning with local providers and emergency care plans.
